Council Road Women formed a much loved new ministry last year called The Table. We began this ministry not knowing how desperate we would all be for community when the Covid-19 virus would rearrange our world. What a wonderful gift The Table was to our women as we battled loneliness, loss of jobs, sickness, fear and anxiety, plans being disrupted, family heartaches, and so much more.
Crisis Fatigue
As I write this, the Covid-19 pandemic is still altering our daily lives. The racial injustices of our country’s systems are being called to carpet for accountability and change. Every media and social media outlet is saturated with this content. Even the commercials of our favorite shows (Jeopardy!) have been altered in a way to remind us of these crises. These things are so big and overwhelming that we start to wonder if we should even bother engaging.
Books to Film: My Favorite Adaptations
Hello Friends! So, we have been in this quarantine status for a little while, which means, at least for me, rewatching some of my favorite movies. It’s no surprise to my friends that some of my favorite movies are adapted from books. Here is a brief list of some of my favorite paper to film choices!
Whiz Kids Coming to CRBC August 2020!
Hopefully by now, you’ve heard about Whiz Kids coming to Council Road in August! I am so excited and wish August was TOMORROW. We have been praying over at The CUBE for a long time about what’s next for this space. We felt a pull that there was something more for us and began looking into a lot of different options and going on site tours. As soon as we sat down to meet with Whiz Kids, we knew it was right.
The Gift of Rest
When Life Looks Nothing Like You Thought
You know those moments in life that turn into stakes crushed into the ground of the path you’ve been walking; the moments that completely change you, change your life’s plan, or even the way you see people? We are all inevitably delivered moments that smother our ideals and desires. This thing called sin, it truly wreaks havoc on our world and our hearts. May is Lyme Disease Awareness month, which leads me to share about one of those staked moments I mentioned above.
Mom Guilt
Mom guilt. Bleh. Just bleh. Its “solutions” have been summarized in memes traveling the globe. Drown it in wine and chocolate. Bury it with more Netflix. Joke about it in your own funny video. While these clever quips offer us some empathy, knowing that we’re not the only mom experiencing a hurdle doesn’t feel like enough to ease our pain.
How to Celebrate Six Feet Away
As I write this, It’s week four of social distancing for us and week one of social distancing from grandparents. For me this means no childcare (insert crazy face emoji), no breaks, almost no naps, prepping for potty training (tomorrow = panties) and needing to focus on my business but not being able to. These are some crazy times!
