What does it look like for us to be a part of God’s mission in our daily lives? That’s the question we will be asking ourselves this missions season at CRBC, beginning the Sunday after Easter and ending Pentecost Sunday, May 23rd.
Our mission theme this year is “Giving Our Daily,” as I strongly believe that God desires us to be about His mission in our daily life. As the local church, God has placed Council Road on the corner of NW 30th and Council to be in the daily lives of our community. As a part of the larger body of Christ, God has connected us to His mission around the world and that should be part of our daily life as well. The mission of God isn’t out of reach or for a special few, it’s for us all and it’s for every day.
If you are new to Council Road, missions season is a time for our church family to intentionally focus on missions in every facet--personally and collectively, during our time together on Sundays and Wednesdays, as well as in our groups. One way I am encouraging groups to get involved is by going through the Foundations Training together. This curriculum was put together by some of my favorite people in OKC and it is designed to equip churches and individuals to live out the gospel in their communities. During missions season only, Council Road would like to pay the registration fee for your group (which goes back to support the work of Stronger Together). Email me at mmagnus@councilroad.org to take me up on the offer!
As we focus and surrender our hearts, this is also the time that we as a church give above and beyond our tithes to our missions ingathering--a fund we use to support mission efforts locally and around the world. Below is a breakdown of how this fund is split up.
We have about 25 local and global partners connected to our church. I view them as an extension of our church family. What exactly does being a “partner” of ours mean? A partner is an individual, family, or organization that we consistently support financially (monthly or annually), spiritually, and relationally. Some have been connected to our church for a very long time (some even grew up at Council Road!) and others have been new introductions. Some are a part of a missions or non-profit organization and others a church plant or school. They are in OKC, across the United States, and in countries around the world. All of our partners align with our values and statement of faith and go through an application process as well as annual check-ins. I am typically in communication with the majority of our partners once or twice a month and it’s one of the best parts of my job! Not all can be publicly listed, but if you would like to learn more about who we partner with, visit www.councilroad.church/missions.
One of the fun ways we have curated for you to connect with our partners during this season is to interview some of the amazing women in our partnerships on the blog! I have chosen women you may not know and the interviews highlight everything from the mission God has called them to in their daily lives to how they like their coffee. I hope you enjoy getting to know these women and it causes you to pray for and be inspired by them! The first one will release next week.
My prayer for you and I during the next few weeks as we focus on God and the mission He has called us to, is that the truth that God is every bit worthy of our surrender will ring true in our hearts and lives.
