God Loves A Cheerful Receiver

God Loves A Cheerful Receiver

Christians should be familiar with the call to be servants, right? 2 Corinthians 9:7 tells us “God loves a cheerful giver,” while Acts 20:35 admonishes “It is better to give than to receive.” It requires selflessness and sacrifice to be a giver. Let’s be people who give as the Lord has given so much to us. But, when we talk about receiving or asking for help, I can get a little squirmy. Who wants to be in a position where they need to ask for help? I’m sure you can think of a time you were in that spot. Christian community must do more than give; they must also be willing to receive.

Sarah recently moved to Southeast Asia as a church planter with her husband of nearly 16 years, Sam, and their 3 amazing children (ages 13, 11 and 4). She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and hosts the Red Button Podcast which focuses on sharing real life stories with a Mental Health Practitioner. They also welcomed a new member of the family into their home a few weeks ago...an adorable and fluffy puppy! I have changed their names and won’t be showing any pictures of their faces to protect their ministry, but I think you’ll love getting to know “Sarah” through her voice and perspective.

Faith and Finances: An Interview with CPA Julie Hardell

Meet my friend, Julie Hardell. We share a deep love for many things—our church and serving there, the ocean, a circle of girlfriends we’ve shared for more years than either of us prefer to admit, and the birthday month of March. One of my favorite memories with Julie is of us chasing dolphins on paddle boards in the ocean. But there is one thing we do not share and that is Julie’s gorgeous head for numbers.
