Autumn is falling upon Oklahoma, my friends. Our state experiences perhaps a two-week stint of Fall before Winter comes crashing in with it’s cutting wind and biting cold (maybe not that violently, but it comes, nonetheless). But, oh, how that brief season of Fall boasts. From Van Gogh shaming sunrises to Jane Austen-esque mist over our ponds and lakes. Our neighborhood trees are engulfed in a flame of red and orange leaves as our grass browns like a churned lake bed.
An Unconventional Holiday Bucket List
Early Christmas Shopping? Yes, Please!
Listen up, ladies, I’ve got the shopping scoop for you! By now, you know to expect The Gift Goes On in November each year (on the 19th this year, to be exact). And I’m sure you are marking your calendars and anticipating the incredible, purchasing-with-a-purpose event where you can literally check off most items on your list, all in one night, setting the stage for less stress and more peace during the Christmas season. Woo hoo!
The Rightful Stone Thrower
Jesus was in the middle of teaching a lesson when a gaggle of scribes and Pharisees traipsed into the temple. While turning the spotlight from the Great Teacher, the religious leaders claimed the center of the room and carelessly tossed a young woman in the middle of their gathering. The crowd watched this unexpected showdown take place as Jesus rose from His seated position in the treasury room of the temple.
Halloween in Mesta
Our Mesta Park neighborhood gets REALLY into Halloween. We’re talking a full-sized zombie graveyard two doors from our house, an interactive Frankenstein lab down the street in the doctor’s window (complete with a skeleton popping out of a coffin to scare people as they walk down the steps to leave), and over 3,000 trick-or-treaters.
Why Appreciating Your Pastor is Good for Him and You
Coffee in Oklahoma City
Coffee can be an object of conversation or a tool to eliminate the tired underneath our eyes and you can bet that Oklahoma City has plenty of places to quench your craving! Something I love about coffee is the way to drink it; slow and methodically. This slowness of time allows us to rest in Christ or even fellowship with those that we love.
The Learning Curve
Do you think we can ever learn enough? Admittedly, I'm rather curious by nature. As an adult, I’ve taken classes to learn quilting, calligraphy, photography, floral design, sailing, inspirational speaking, writing, computer skills, cooking (I keep trying!), cake decorating, counseling and the Bible.
