Wisdom from Widows

As a thirty-seven year old mom of young sons, I suddenly became a widow. Ahead of me was the biggest learning curve I had ever faced.

Godly widowed women taught me how to trust God and eventually be content in Him. I discovered my place of service to other widows and here is some wisdom from their journeys:

“After my husband passed, it was very difficult for me to make it through a church service. Then one Sunday, a lady asked me to sit with her. That hug and sweet spirit gave me strength to keep coming. I joined the ladies Sunday morning class she attended (Soul Sisters) and have found forever friends there. ” - Jan

Upon becoming a widow, I lost my identity and needed to find who I was in Christ. God led me to a group of ladies (many widows) who through laughter, tears and prayers helped me.  My recommendation: connect new widows with an experienced widow to guide them.”  - Brenda

“When my husband was in the ER with a brain bleed and not expected to live, 50 people from CRBC were in the waiting room holding hands and praying for him. Many beautiful times my small group went to the front of the church to pray for him. After his death, those same people and their prayers were a lifeline for me.” -  Ann

After my husband passed, I felt so alone. Eventually, I found a class of women (some widows) that helped me find a place to belong.” - Elisa

How can you help a grieving widow? Give her a hug, pat on the back, someone to sit by, your experience, patience, tears, prayers. Just be there.
