This week’s creative download is a free “Thank You” notecard to use with your gifts to teachers, friends and family. See below!

‘Tis the season to be stressed about choosing the perfect gift for everyone you love! Luckily, I am here to help you with some of that! As a teacher, I first want to say that every gift we receive from our students and families is SO appreciated. It is never expected, but is always appreciated. With that said, we know you want to give a great gift! Here are a few tips on how to get a great gift for the teacher in your life:

Put down the coffee mug

I just want to get this one out of the way. Yes, we teachers love our coffee and tea, but I promise you that we have enough coffee mugs. I am only a third year teacher, and I have received over seven mugs as gifts. I am thankful for them, but there is no way I can keep that trend up and have enough space in my kitchen to store them all. This leads us to number two!

Favorite coffee or tea

This is a great alternative for the mug gift! Since they have enough mugs, buy them something they can put in the mug! If you don’t know their favorites, ask them! I promise you we are not offended if you don’t know those details about our life, and we are happy to answer any of those questions for you.

Appeal to their hobbies

A gift card usually fits best with this one, but you can buy something as well! If the teacher loves to workout, get a gift card to somewhere they can get workout clothes or shoes. If they are artistic, get a gift card to a place they can get art supplies. You could also make a little basket with their favorite things based on those hobbies. Lots of ways to make this fun!

Ornaments over trinkets

Often times we receive little trinkets such as desk ornaments that are in the shape of an apple or something cute like that. These are great to put on our desk, but again, we end up with a lot of them and run out of space in our room to put them. An ornament, however, can be hung on our tree every year and doesn’t take space in our room. I love getting out the ornaments that were gifted to me every year and remembering that class or that student. If you do an ornament, make sure to put your child’s name and the year on it so we can always remember! I hope one day to have enough ornaments to have a separate Christmas tree solely for ornaments from my students!

Gift Cards

Gift cards are ALWAYS a great option! We are overjoyed to receive a gift that we can use down the road just a much as receiving a gift specifically picked out for us. Some recommendations of places: Starbucks, a local coffee shop, restaurants, things to do (paint class, spa, nail salon, etc.), Target.

Download this festive “Thank You” notecard, designed by Megan Mathews. Print it out and write a note of appreciation for teachers, friends or family. Enjoy!

Hopefully, these ideas will help you shop for the teacher in your life! If you are a teacher, please comment by sharing some of the favorite gifts you’ve received from your students and families!
