Sundaes on Monday

Usually around this time of year, Vickey and I are reminding you each Sunday to register for our women’s spring retreat. You may be wondering why we haven’t mentioned a retreat for this year yet! For the past few years we’ve been alternating between hosting our own retreat and streaming a retreat from If Gathering. This year, we are going to do something a little different!

Stacy, our Missions Director, and Vickey have collaborated to host an event at our church titled Sundaes on Monday. What is “Sundaes on Monday?” Great question. The SUNDAES theme is a play on the word SUNDAY. We will begin by enjoying treats from an ice cream Sundae bar, then we will work on some craft projects to benefit women and girls from several ministries: Single Moms, Homeless, Hope is Alive, Spero Project (Refugees), House of Healing (teen girls), Mission OKC, and a local Nightclub ministry.

The overall theme of Sundaes on Monday emphasizes the need to take what we learn on Sundays and live it out on Mondays  - being the hands & feet of Jesus throughout the week. Since we are often encouraged in our Sunday services to live missionally, the purpose of this missional craft night is to create things for women in ministries we partner with, in order to serve and encourage them.

This is a one evening event where we will focus on different projects like prepping bags for the homeless, making blankets, creating home decor, writing letters and more to bless our ministry partners in their mission. So whether or not you consider yourself a crafty DIY-er, there will be great ways for you to contribute. It will be both fun and meaningful, with a sweet treat for even the lactose intolerant among us. We hope you will join us for our first even Sundaes on Monday event!
