Summer Book Clubs

Summertime! School is out! Camps! Pool parties! Vacations!

But the flip side of all this fun? Your rhythms of friendship and community are disrupted. Whether you need a change from your school year commitments or need an on-ramp to community, Book Clubs are a great opportunity in the intermediate months full of sun.

I have had two very different experiences in a Book Club at Council. First, I was new to the church and needed more opportunities to build friendships within my small group but my summer schedule was haphazard. Book Club served as another touchpoint alongside our normal meetings. Years later, my summer schedule was slow and steady. I got to be present every week for discussion, I had the ability to connect with women outside of my normal small group and, despite that summer being long past, I still spend time with those women.

So ask yourself, “Do I need an excuse to see my friends?” “Is it time to make some new friends?” “Do I need spiritual accountability?” “Do I want to read a great book?” “Do I need some fun?”

If any of those answers are “Yes!,” then grab a copy of You Are a Theologian: An Invitation to Know and Love God Well and come join one of our Summer Book Clubs that will meet in homes from June-August.

To find a group when you are available this Summer (daytime or evening), go to www.councilroadwomen.org/calendar. Summer Book Clubs have something for every woman!
