Inspiration for Post-Holiday Decor

There are two types of people when it comes to decorating after Christmas: Christmas-fanatics who become utterly depressed by the thought of packing up their ornaments and nostalgic trinkets or those (like me) who are excited to declutter and tidy their space after the busy holidays.

Whether you identify with one of these, or somewhere in between, we wanted to give you some fresh ideas and inspiration to find magic and contentment in your home during the upcoming winter months.

How to Decorate After Christmas

Rather than trying to recreate the wheel, I found some of the top blog posts for post-Christmas decorating and have them linked below. Within the articles, there were several ideas to help your space stay magical as you pack away your holiday decor:

  • Declutter and organize

  • Rearrange furniture (get creative if you haven’t changed your space up)

  • Use neutral decor with minimal pops of color

  • Utilize lamps, twinkle lights, candles, and your fireplace

  • Leave your Christmas tree up (remove ornaments and lights)

  • Keep cozy blankets and pillows out (the more texture, the better)

  • Incorporate natural elements (think houseplants, pine cones, sticks, dried flowers)

How to Decorate with 2021 Home Trends

As you brainstorm ideas for your freshly cleared space, you can also look at upcoming trends for inspiration. The interior design directions on the horizon range from simple accent walls to elaborate japanese-influenced architecture. There’s something for everyone! One of my favorite trends is the “grandmillenial” or granny-chic style emerging from budget-conscious consumers who appreciate the uniqueness of decor from days gone by. I had too much fun googling 2021 trends and hope these help make your home even more cozy and “you” in the coming year.
