The Day Is At Hand: CRBC Missions Season

The night is far gone; the day is at hand. - Romans 13:12

CRBC’s Missions Season begins the Sunday directly after Easter and ends the Sunday right before our big Pentecost Sunday 60th Anniversary celebration– isn’t that fitting? While we see God’s heart for the nations from the beginning (i.e. God’s call on Abraham in Genesis 12), the Great Commission and the missionary travels of the disciples and Paul ignited what we still know as “missions'' today. The reality is that Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection spurred believers to act, share, love, and move back then and still spurs us to this day.

Our theme for the 2023 Missions Season is “The Day Is At Hand”, drawing from Romans 13:12, “The night is far gone; the day is at hand.” In other words, we want to focus on how God is working. He is working in the darkness and brokenness of the world, shining, healing, overcoming, and breaking through because that is who God is and that is what He does.

This season, we have a lot to spotlight with both our local and global partners, and I’m so excited. We have a vibrant and generous heartbeat for missions at Council Road and we have a lot of stories to share! Each Sunday we will have special guests joining us in person or through videos and we have some fun announcements to make (the suspense!!) This is also the season that our church goes above and beyond our tithes to give to our Missions Ingathering. This fund is split up between global missions organizations like the IMB, Global Action, Make Your Mark International, church plants from Denver to Mumbai, Oklahoma Baptist state missions, and more. We also designate part of the total for our mission trip scholarship fund, local community partnerships like the ROC food pantry, and for supporting our local schools throughout the year. The mission trip scholarship fund automatically allows every church member a 25% scholarship for international mission trips – and if it’s your first trip with us, it’s 50%!

To give to our missions endeavors, you may designate “Missions” and give by text at 405-652-0607, online at councilroad.church, or in the offering buckets at church on Sundays.

Missions Season, to me, is a seamless and joyful continuation for believers after Easter and it is a perfect way to lead up to our church’s 60th Anniversary and Pentecost Sunday. How amazing is it to reflect on all God has done in and through our church because of the reality of the gospel?! If we were to trace all the ways that God’s hand has moved through Council Road through the years, how many countries of the world would it reach? How many languages? I hope that you join me in being awestruck at how God has moved through our congregation on the corner of NW 30th and Council. This is going to be a great season!
