Happy Fall, Y’all!! The temperatures are cooling off, mums are blooming, pumpkins are on display, and the holiday season is upon us. As much as I love spring and the promise of new life, I also love autumn and all its richness of color, pageantry, and celebration of holiday tradition. Today, we are past Halloween, and it is time to turn our thoughts toward Thanksgiving.
One of the last times we “chatted” here, I wrote about my Daddy--his influence on my life as a wonderful father and how his character shaped how I saw my heavenly Father’s character qualities. By and large, it was a good thing. And I am so thankful for that legacy and heritage from my past.
As we approach this Thanksgiving season on this blog, we are going to do some intentional dwelling on the qualities of God. Our November theme for the next few weeks is “Thank You, Lord, for Your ___________________ .” Each week our writers will explore one of God’s qualities that has impacted her life. Our prayer is that your heart will begin to fill in that blank with aspects of God that have touched you, or that you long to see and embrace more fully.
Let me assure you that our God is trustworthy as you open your heart to His love and comfort. He is dependable and will always be at your side in the good times and in the hard times. He is unchanging, a rock for you to stand on and a shelter for you to seek safety and solace. He cares for you so much that He catches your tears in a bottle and has engraved your image on the palms of His hands. I could go on, but I invite you to make your own list of qualities of God for which you are thankful. Next, praise Him in gratitude for His unending love and watch over you.
Blessings on you and yours as we celebrate this season of gratitude and Thanksgiving.
“The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
