Summer Fun in OKC

How is it June already? Summer has officially arrived and there are so many fun things to do here in the Oklahoma City area!

For me, summer has always been a time of finding ways to make memories with family and friends. I hope that you, too, will take time to enjoy the community around you and the fun that Oklahoma City has to offer this summer? The first thing I will always recommend is a good coffee shop! So, here are a few of my favorites:

  • The Harvey Bakery - A large, beautiful space with a delicious assortment of pastries, breakfast, and lunch! They have one of my favorite iced Lavender lattes and one of the best Americanos!

  • Coffee Slingers - Truly the best bang for your buck! They make everything in house and roast their own coffee. The location is also perfect for some window shopping in the heart of Oklahoma City.

  • Summer Moon - A classic, but with many locations around The City, it is never far!

While quality time over a cup of coffee is definitely a love language of mine, there are plenty of other things going on this summer that I want to share! Take your friends, family or enjoy a date night with these FREE activities:

  • Farmers Market at Scissortail Park - Every Saturday (9am-1pm). All items here are homegrown, handmade, and vendor-created from locally-owned sources!

Location: The Corner of Oklahoma City Boulevard and S. Robinson Ave

  • West Village Fourth Fridays - The 4th Friday of Each Month (6pm-10pm). Enjoy live music, sidewalk activities, and pop-up markets!

Location: West Village (Parking between Walker Ave and Colcord Dr)

  • Jazz Nights at Bradford House - Every Tuesday (8pm-10pm). Live Jazz in a vibrant, Victorian-style home built in 1912, now transformed into a boutique hotel and all-day cafe.

Location: The Bradford House

  • First Fridays On The Paseo: The 1st Friday of Each Month (6pm-9pm). The galleries in the Paseo district offer special themed exhibits, refreshments, guest artists, and a variety of entertainment; all within walking distance!

Location: The Paseo Arts District

  • Red White and BOOM: July 3rd (8:30pm). A concert from the OKC Philharmonic Orchestra followed by fireworks!

Location: Scissortail Park

  • OKC Contemporary Second Saturdays: The 2nd Saturday of the Month. Create a take-home art project, join a family-friendly tour of our gallery and explore an Art Pack full of engaging activities for all ages!

Location: Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center

  • OKC Zoo “Read for Adventure” discount: Check out "Juniper's Butterfly Garden" from participating libraries, and receive 4 FREE general admission tickets to the OKC Zoo! (Offer expires June 30, 2024)

These are just a few of the many things OKC has to offer, but I hope this is a helpful place to start for finding your summer activities! I pray that as we go about our days, no matter what we do, that  we would remember Colossians 3:17, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

Meet the Author!
