Falling For Fall

If you’ve known me long at all, no doubt you know I’m a Christmas girl. I’m crazy about the entire season, start to finish. However, that doesn’t mean I snub the rest of the year. In fact, the older I get, the more I find myself marveling at each new season, finding evidence of God so boldly displayed in His creation. And the more I think about it, the more grateful I become for each and every one. Warm summer rays delight us after cold winter has melted into breezy spring, but after months of basking in the sun, we find ourselves longing for a little reprieve… enter Fall.

Fall is charming me, finding a place in my heart (not just because it leads to Christmas!), and I’d love to share some of my Fall favorites with you so that you can fall for Fall...if you haven’t already.

Fall Fashion

The simplest, most surface reason I love transitioning from summer to fall is the wardrobe change-up. Wearing layers is so easy and fun. Throw a denim shirt or open front cardigan over a t-shirt with jeans and ankle boots and you’re ready to go. I love jewel-tones and they’re everywhere this year in patterns like leopard, flannel, florals and stripes. Fall fashion is cozy and easily styled for all shapes and sizes. Nervous about styling yourself? Get fashion tips and even let someone else style you with websites like Le Tote or Stitch Fix.

Fall Baking

I’m admittedly not fantastic in the kitchen. However, something about the crisp Fall air makes me want to get in there and bake something, especially Fall faves like pumpkin bread. My daughter loves to bake, so the Fall brings with it time together in the kitchen. One thing we love to do is make an extra batch of goodness to share with a friend. Try my favorite pumpkin bread recipe  and throw in some chocolate chips if you have a sweet tooth! I’m also dying to try Joanna Gaines’ banana bread.

Fall Outings

When the weather is basically ideal (not too hot and not too cold), we love to spend time outside. This looks different in each season of life, but some of our favorites have included visits to pumpkin patches and local fall festivals, hosting a chili cook-off, a wreath-making night, Halloween costume making, or simply sitting outside by the firepit enjoying the weather and each other. No matter the attraction you choose, make time to slow down and relish the relationships God has given you. There is no shortage on Fall fun in OKC.

And don’t forget to mark your calendar for one of my favorite Fall traditions, The Gift Goes On! November 13th from 6:00 to 9:00pm, it’s a shopping-with-a-purpose event, benefiting the Karis Adoption Fund.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

This Fall, embrace the season in both new and familiar ways. Find simple wonder in cooler temps and changing leaves, have fun with fall fashion, bake something delicious, and get together with the ones you love to enjoy the season’s activities.

What about you, what are your favorite Fall traditions?
