Good mental health is vitally important for us all and 2020 has certainly challenged our ability to fully experience it. With this in mind, along with September 10th being Suicide Prevention Day, we wanted to redirect you to a sampling of the great mental health content that we’ve produced over the years on our blog at www.councilroadwomen.org. I am inexplicably grateful for the insights and personal vulnerability the authors of these articles have shared.

If you are unable to click on the following article title links, please go to www.councilroadwomen.org and type in the name of the article you wish to read:

  • SURVIVING SUICIDE

Debbie Jourden shares how God is helping her live again after the suicides of both her husband and adult son. Written with a healthy dose of honesty and grit, this is a very personal and touching post.

  • SUICIDE PREVENTION: GET IN YOUR PEOPLE'S BUSINESS

Therapist Phoebe Barron explains why we can’t expect depressed people to reach out for help, but what we should watch for and what to do if we sense a friend is depressed.

  • WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR FRIEND IS HURTING

Important insights and practical help from psychologist Carisa Wilsie.

  • RED, GREEN AND POST-CHRISTMAS BLUES

Originally written to help fight the post-holiday blues, this post is loaded with practical steps to battle depression in any season.

  • CRISIS FATIGUE

Addresses the high cost of not dealing with our 2020 crisis fatigue and some doable action steps to positively move through times of ongoing crisis.

  • LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS: DEALING WITH DEPRESSION

Written with raw vulnerability, Stacee Goetzinger shares a personal day-in-the-life perspective of choosing to battle depression and offers encouragement for others to fight for life.

  • REDOS

Choosing to live instead of having her life taken from an eating disorder, Stacee shares with gratitude and determination about embracing the gift of a fresh start.

What a gift these authors have been. They remind us that we cannot love God and others well if we do not intentionally care for our own minds and emotions. Take another look at the above content (or read it for the first time) and thank God that hope and healing is available for us all.
