One of the things I love most about our church is how we embrace seasons: Advent, Lent, summer camps, and even the launch of new ministries (such as the fantastic Women’s Ministry Launch last week!) September brings with it a new season, Missions Month, and a time for our church to intentionally focus our hearts on the mission and work God has called us to do. Missions Month also kicks off giving for our our Missions Ingathering offering in which our church gives above and beyond our tithe to support mission efforts! Our goal is $100,000 and it won't be possible without everyone's involvement.
Here are 6 Ways You Can Get Missional:
1. SHOP
Shop our Missions Market EVERY Sunday! We’ll have freshly roasted Guatemalan coffee from Connect Roasters, locally-made gold bar and tassel keychains from 7th and West, and Harvest Ethiopia leather goods. All proceeds go towards our Missions Ingathering offering. We’ll also have Redbird Coffee Cart coming September 24th! They have generously decided to donate a portion of their profits that day to CRBC missions.
2. EAT
Join us for Missions Dinner for 8 on Friday, September 15th or Sunday, September 17th. Sign up solo or in a pair and learn about a missionary family or ministry while eating at some of the best international restaurants OKC has to offer! This will be a great way to meet other CRBC members and to learn and pray for missions together. Learn more and sign-up here.
3. SERVE TOGETHER
Some of us may not have a lot of flexibility in our finances, but we have a talent or skill we can put to use. Get creative! Lemonade stands, zero-dollar date nights, backyard movie nights… the possibilities are endless. Tag #CRBCMissionsMonth on social media when you post your group doing something fun and impactful! One fun idea that has surfaced is the Bobay Bootcamp on Thursday, September 14th from 7-8 PM at The Cube! I’m nervous, but excited because I know for a fact that a Bobay bootcamp will kick my butt!
4. BEFRIEND A STUDENT
Any Friday night in September, go to the Baptist Collegiate Ministry building on Oklahoma City University’s campus at 7 PM for a short training. Then, you’ll be paired with an international student and your mission is simple: be a friend and keep in touch with them all year! This is an amazing way to share the Gospel with the nations right here in OKC. RSVP to Emily at 405-323-8447. (Texting preferred, call if needed.)
5. BE A STUDENT
Consider joining me for a life-changing global missions course called Perspectives! This is a 16-week course beginning in January 2018 on Tuesday nights. Email mmagnus@councilroad.org for more details.
6. GO
We’ll be revealing our CRBC mission trips for 2017-2018 at the end of September. Keep a look out!

I am so excited for this season and the many opportunities to pray, learn, give and go with my church so that we can be a part of the work God is doing in OKC and around the world. You never know what He may do in your heart. Last Missions Month, He called me to accept this job (Minister of Missions at CRBC) when I was resisting QUITE fiercely! :) Whatever it may be, I am praying that God speaks to each one of you in this season.
How is God leading you to be more missional this month? Do you have any fun ideas for you and your family or home group to serve together?
